W2110A black · standard

W2110A is the standard black toner sold as HP 206A, and in our catalogue it fits the Color LaserJet Pro M255dw and the Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw. Before anything else about it, check which number your machine expects, because HP sells the same cartridge as 206A in North America and as 207A elsewhere, and a genuine cartridge from the wrong region is refused exactly as though it were counterfeit.

On cost, 1350 rated pages at $75.00 gives 5.56c a page. The high yield W2110X takes that to 4.13c, about 26 percent less for $55.00 more, and since black is the cartridge that empties first on document printing, that is the size most owners should be buying.

Black is also the one cartridge here you can treat independently. Colours run down at their own pace depending on what you print, so there is no need to replace them together, and no penalty for running an X black beside standard colours.

HP's data sheet for the M255dw carries a dynamic security notice, so the printer is intended to work only with cartridges carrying a new or reused HP chip, and periodic firmware updates can block compatible toner that had been printing. The imaging drum is built into this cartridge, which is why our listing shows four toners and no separate drum for these printers, and why a black only defect that repeats at a fixed interval down the page is the cartridge's fault rather than the machine's.
