About MyCartridgeFinder
MyCartridgeFinder is an independent database that answers one question well: which ink or toner cartridge does your printer actually use — and what's the smartest way to buy it?
For every printer we list the exact OEM cartridge numbers, the standard-vs-XL (high-yield) options with cost-per-page, reliable third-party compatible and remanufactured alternatives, and — critically — whether the printer uses firmware DRM that can block non-OEM ink.
Where our data comes from
Compatibility is cross-checked against manufacturer cartridge finders (HP, Brother, Canon, Epson) and major retailer cross-reference tables. We don't publish a cartridge–printer match we haven't verified, because a single wrong number defeats the entire purpose of a compatibility database.
The firmware-DRM flag
Some printers — most notably HP models with "Dynamic Security" — can receive firmware updates that block third-party ink. Where that risk exists we flag it clearly, so you can decide between a guaranteed-compatible OEM cartridge and a cheaper third-party one with eyes open.
How we stay free
When you buy through a link on this site we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. That funding is what keeps the database maintained and updated — it never changes which cartridge we tell you is correct.
Prices and stock shown are indicative and change frequently; always confirm the current price on the retailer's page before buying.
