The HP 932 black fits four HP OfficeJets from the start of the last decade: the 6600 and 6700 from 2012, and the 7110 and 7612 from 2012 and 2013. The number catches people out, because the black on these printers is a 932 while the colours are 933. Ordering a set of 932 cartridges and expecting cyan to be among them does not work.
At about 400 pages for a list price near $22, the standard 932 black comes to roughly 5.50 cents a page. The 932XL black prints about 1000 pages for around $35, about 3.50 cents, so the XL is the better buy for anything beyond occasional use. The colour side is much cheaper per page: a 933XL colour is rated at about 825 pages for around $14, about 1.70 cents. Black is the expensive ink on this generation, so the colours on this generation cost a fraction of what a black page does.
None of the four printers is firmware locked. HP had not yet rolled Dynamic Security into this generation, so compatible and remanufactured 932 and 933 cartridges work here without the update risk attached to the 902 and 952 families that replaced them. That matters on a printer this old, because genuine cartridges for it have been sitting in warehouses for years while compatibles are still being manufactured.
These models keep the print head inside the printer rather than in the cartridge, and after a decade of service the head is the part most likely to fail. Streaky or missing black on a new 932 is worth one cleaning cycle from the printer's tools menu, then a nozzle check to see whether the gaps closed. If black is missing entirely and two cleaning cycles change nothing, the cartridge is not the problem and another one will not fix it.
